The Accounting Manager will plan and execute month end and year end close activities, prepare management and statutory reports, and monitor financial performance against budgets. The post holder will coordinate with payroll, procurement and operations to ensure accurate accounting of transactions and timely reconciliations.

Working within a collaborative finance team, the Accounting Manager must apply professional judgement to interpret accounting standards, support audit processes and drive continuous improvement in accounting policies and internal controls. Accounting Manager: Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day accounting operations and maintain the general ledger.
  • Lead month end and year end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare management accounts, variance analysis and commentary for senior management.
  • Produce statutory financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to maintain cash flow accuracy.
  • Perform bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate and support external and internal audits, providing schedules and explanations.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts in collaboration with finance colleagues and business partners.
  • Supervise, mentor and develop junior accounting staff, including workload allocation and performance feedback.
  • Identify and drive process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, statutory filing and regulatory requirements as relevant.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reports to support business decisions and projects.

Accounting Manager: Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience in an accounting management role, typically five years or more.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards such as IFRS or UK GAAP.
  • Demonstrable experience preparing management accounts and statutory financial statements.
  • Experience supporting external audits and preparing audit schedules.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead and develop a small team and to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non finance stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics in handling confidential financial information.
